Guy's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Guy Williams

A Special Day for a Special Man...

On August 2, 2001, 12 years after Guy's death, through a fan-initiated effort, Guy was finally awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California. In addition to his family, Guy's companion Patricia Goodliffe and his acting partner Fernando Lupiz made the trip from Buenos Aires to attend. In a fitting tribute to the popular actor, many of Guy's former co-workers from television and movies attended. And the many fans who traveled from all corners of the world to salute their favorite actor, made Guy's ceremony one of the largest gatherings of its kind. Below are a few photos of that memorable morning.

The esteem with which Guy was held, is indicated by the many former co-stars and guest stars from both Zorro and Lost in Space who attended the ceremony to honor him.

Among the Zorro celebrities attending were:

Don Diamond

Don, a co-star on the show who joined the cast early in the first season, portrayed Corporal Reyes throughout the remainder of the series.

Britt Lomand

Britt co-starred as the evil Capitan Monastario in the first 13 episodes of season one.

Jolene Brand

In 9 second season episodes, Jolene portrayed Anna Maria Verdugo, the woman who captured Diego's heart and who received the first screen kiss from Zorro.

Suzanne Lloyd

Suzanne's character Raquel Toledano appeared in 6 first season episodes. She and Guy enjoyed working together enough that she was invited back to play the part of Isabella Linares in the anthology movie, Auld Acquaintance.

Richard Anderson

In 4 second season episodes, Anderson played Ricardo Del Amo, a practical joker who vied with Diego for Anna Maria Verdugo's affection.

Patricia Medina

In 4 second season episodes which co-starred the late Cesar Romero as Diego's Uncle Esteban, Patricia played Margarita Cortesar, the young woman being courted by Esteban.

Barbara Luna

In 4 second season episodes, Barbara played the fiesty peasant, Theresa Modesto.

Tony Russo

Russo was one of the few guest stars who knew fencing. He appeared in two first season episodes as Carlos Martinez, a pawn in the evil schemes of Capitan Monastario. During the second season, Russo returned for the episode An Affair of Honor, this time playing Avila an expert swordsman who challenges Diego to a duel. Due to the fencing skills of Guy & Russo, the duel between Zorro and Avila is one of the best athletic displays of the sport in the entire series.

Anthony Caruso

Caruso and his sinister character Don Juan Ortega, appeared in 3 first season episodes.

Paul Picerni

Picerni, who was better known as Elliot Ness' sidekick in The Untouchables, appeared as villain Pietro Murietta in 2 first season episodes.

Michael Forest

Forest played an imposter posing as Lt. Raphael Santos in a second season episode.

Steve Stevens

In a first season episode, Stevens played Rudolfo Martinez, a young man challenged to a duel by an evil newcomer to Los Angeles.

Buddy Van Horn

Buddy was Guy's stunt double throughout the series. While Guy did all his own fencing and much of the horseback riding, Buddy stepped in to handle the more dangerous stunts involving things like leaps from rooftops and racing horses, where if the star of the show had been injured, a costly delay in filming would have resulted. Buddy also quickly learned the art of fencing and in many episodes he stepped in to stunt double for the evil opponents who found themselves dueling with El Zorro.

Annette Funicello

Although wanting to attend, Annette was unable to be present due to health problems. She'd appeared as Anita Cabrillo in 3 second season episodes and later returned to guest star in the anthology movie The Postponed Wedding, playing the role of Constancia de la Torre.
