Screen Capture-Guy Williams as the young author in the Rockford Files

The Rockford Files

"The Dark & Bloody Ground"
(Aired September 20, 1974)

Guy appeared in an unusual and uncredited cameo role in the second episode of the first season of Rockford Files. The episode, entitled "The Dark And Bloody Ground", first aired on September 20, 1974. The story centers on an author who, at the beginning of the show, is shown being carried out of a burning building as a corpse. The viewer gets a glimpse of an older actor playing the author. Towards the end of the show, Rockford picks up the book, with the same title as the episode, that the author had written, and there is a close-up of the book jacket. On the jacket is a picture of a young Guy Williams!

This very brief glimpse of Guy was discovered and captured by Claudia S. as she was viewing a DVD of the Rockford File episode. She is a long time fan of Guy's and an avid collector of memorabilia from his career, including his early modeling days. Her trained eye not only spotted the face peering out from the book jacket, but in the instant it was on the screen, she recognized Guy...and thanks to her, we have a previously unknown part of Guy's work captured.

The picture and it's unusual use, beg the question: Did Guy know he had appeared on the Rockford Files?
