TALK SHOW APPEARANCE

As a famous celebrity in Argentina, Guy was much sought after by hosts of various television shows. He and Fernando made guest appearances on several different shows during Guy's career in South America. Shown here are screen captures from a talk show hosted by Victor Laplace.

After a brief conversation between Guy & the host, during which Guy struggled to understand the rapid Spanish dialog, Victor told him there was a special visitor backstage who would help Guy demonstrate his fencing. To the delight of Guy and the audience, Fernando Lupiz entered from the wings of the stage.

Performing before live audiences with uncapped sword blades was quite obviously dangerous work and required both skill and planning to avoid injury. As Victor watched, Guy & Fernando demonstrated how they correographed their dueling scenes. With a written script in hand, they first discussed what would happen. Then slowly, with very deliberate moves, they performed the routine, as Guy called out each step in advance.

They repeated the same moves several times; each a little faster than the last. Interspersed through it all was the teasing banter and easy laughter of two good friends having a great time at their craft. Finally when they were certain of the routine, they repeated it again, this time demonstrating their skill at breathtaking speed. When it ended, the two men shared a good-natured laugh over their duel.
